Depending on the nature of our contact and work together, I may collect:

I collect and use personal information in order to:

The lawful basis for processing personal information connected with therapy is that processing is necessary for the provision of psychotherapy services and for the legitimate interests of operating a professional psychotherapy practice.
Where special category personal data is processed, this is necessary for the provision of health-related therapeutic services and associated record keeping.
Confidentiality and supervision
Confidentiality is a central part of psychotherapy.
Information shared in therapy will normally remain confidential.
As part of good professional practice, I undertake regular clinical supervision. During supervision I may discuss aspects of my work with clients. Wherever possible, information is anonymised and shared only to the extent necessary for professional support and safe clinical practice.
Information may also be disclosed where required by law or where there is a serious concern about the safety of you or another person.
How is your information stored?
Client records are stored electronically using secure professional systems, including:
- Microsoft 365 Business services for email and communication
- Therasee, a UK-hosted practice management platform used for client records and session notes
Reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to protect personal information against loss, misuse, unauthorised access, disclosure or alteration.
How long do I keep records?
Client records are normally retained for seven years after therapy has ended.
After this period, records will be securely deleted unless there is a legal, regulatory or professional reason to retain them for longer.
Financial records may be retained for longer where required by tax or accounting regulations.
Sharing your information
Personal information will not be sold or shared for marketing purposes.
Information may be shared:
- With professional advisers where necessary
- With my clinical supervisor, using anonymised information wherever possible
- Where required by law
- Where necessary to protect someone from serious harm
- In connection with legal proceedings or regulatory requirements
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have rights which may include:
